Decorah Rotarian Darrel Branhagen sets off for another circumnavigation of the Trout Run Trail with his cargo of happy passengers
The Decorah Rotary club was pleased to host its 11th Annual Trout Run Trail Tour Day event, once again hosted at the Chuck Gipp Decorah Fish Hatchery Pavillion. The event was conducted on Tuesday, August 18. The early morning weather looked a bit less than optimum but things improved and the day turned out to be quite pleasant. More than 127 riders supported by 12 vehicle drivers, several tour guides, and Rotary Club members enjoyed the four separate scenic tours of the entire Trout Run Trail, each lasting for approximately one hour. Both continental breakfast and an excellent barbeque luncheon were served to participants at the Pavillion.
Our club extends its thanks to all of the machine owners and drivers: Paul Nichols, Gregg Rude, John Hageman, John Kerndt, Karen Kerndt, Tom Kuennen, Les Askelson, Larry Hauber, Roxanne Hauber and Decorah Kawasaki. We thank John Hartz, Susan Meyer, and Decorah Rotarians Darrel Branhagen and Ron Snell who stepped up to serve as drivers. Thanks also to the tour guides who were on the original project development, including Lindsay Erdman, Mike Harman, and Harlan Satrom. We thank the many Decorah Rotarian volunteers who made the event both fun and successful. We thank Decorah Rotarian Mike Huinker for his tireless and steadfast leadership of this annual event. Our thanks to the Chuck Gipp Decorah Fish Hatchery staff for use of the facility as well as the Decorah Parks and Recreation Department for posting signage at all the Trout Run Trail entrances. Finally, our club extends its thanks to the media outlets who helped us promote the event, including KVIK 104.7 with Les Askelson, the Decorah Driftless Journal, and Decorahnews.com.
